Mr. Hyde, Rank and File Member of the UFT

Mr. Hyde’s striking 2019 yearbook picture

I recently caught up with my old friend Mr. Hyde, a well known hot head and UFT member, walking the old neighborhood and peeing on the front door of each public school warehouse he passed. I told him there was a call in town hall meeting with Mulgrew for some Q and A on Thursday. https://awa.knack.aft.org/uft-conference-call?j=105205&sfmc_sub=32882601&l=4526_HTML&u=2660614&mid=100022908&jb=9#register-april-23/    He immediately went into a mad frenzy pounding the ground with both fists and ran up a tree howling. After a few minutes, he composed himself and rejoined me. I asked him to list some questions for Mr. Mulgrew, as I respect his concerns. They are as follows:
1. Why did you allow teachers to go into a three day training in schools that you helped close for students?
2.  What are you doing to protect staffs from massive budget cuts on the horizon?
3.  Do you work for your members or for Bill deBlasio?
4.  Why are retirees needs catered to while teachers are ignored?
5. Why do retirees get to vote in elections? No other union in the country allows this. What’s the real purpose?
6. Why are there oaths of party allegiance inside the UFT and voting in blocks?
7. Please define the word ‘Democracy’ in your own words and give an example of its use inside the UFT.

Well, that’s all I could get out of Mr. Hyde - he said he was heading down to 52 Broadway. He looked a little too happy - I think it’s time to self-quarantine.
